Yellow Lily

This yellow lily is my most recent piece done in colored pencil. My inspiration came from a bouquet of flowers.

I took a photograph of one of the lilies in the bouquet and I played around with it in Adobe Photoshop. I came up with different versions of the same flower.

The first one is a yellow lily abstract:

This next one I wanted to create a wet look. I call this version "Wet 'n Wild":

In this third version, again I distorted the yellow lily and changed the colors to create this abstract:

Diamond in the Rough

If you polish one of these colored rocks it can be made into a shiny pendant. That's why I call this colored pencil piece "Diamond in the Rough".

Rainbow Trout

I drew this piece for my oldest son Larry who is an avid fly fisherman. He asked me to do a colored pencil drawing for him so I picked this rainbow trout which not only has great color but is known as a great sport fish.

Whirlaway

This is my first piece done in colored pencil. Interesting art should have colorful subjects, so I began drawing the most vivid items I could find like this carousel horse. I named this piece "Whirlaway" after the famous champion thoroughbred racehorse who won the Triple Crown in 1941.

Christmas Flower

I used acrylic paint on canvas for creating this piece. This Christmas Flower was my first acrylic painting. When I choose to paint or draw something I look at color. To me that is the most significant thing about art. If you paint from something colorful, it’ll be much more enjoyable to look at when finished, as well as more fun to make in the first place.
